It was a score that, on that day, was only beaten by the tournament’s top player Charles Howell III. Fujikawa scored a birdie of 51 feet at the eleventh hole and finished the round on tied eighth alongside Chad Campell and Tom Pernice Jr.

Fujikawa completed his second PGA Tour start (2006 U.S. Open was his one-time start) during the 2007 Sony Open in Hawaii, after he was able to qualify by scoring at 67 points in the Open Qualifier (PGA Tour Exemption Category #17). The second day of play at the Sony Open itself, Fujikawa became the youngest golfer in more than 50 years to make the PGA Tour cut. The 16th hole brought him in the cut however the 15-foot eagle at the 18th hole that proved to be the most memorable shot of the day. By that shot, Fujikawa was able to secure a four-under-par score of score of 66. On April 20, 2008, Fujikawa made his first cut as a professional and earned his first professional victory by winning the 50th annual Mid-Pacific Open in Hawaii. At age 17, Fujikawa became the youngest winner in tournament history.
